Almost 2,000 people in the US have contracted Cyclospora infections. Michigan accounts for nearly 1,000 of these, so it is the hardest-hit state to date.
Officials suspect the parasite came from fresh produce. They are testing greens, herbs and berries. Shoppers are urged to wash all produce thoroughly. Cooking food helps too. The outbreak is growing fast so checks are being increased.
