Ebola causes severe hemorrhagic fever with high death rates. Transmission occurs primarily through direct contact body fluids of infected individuals. It is found parts of Africa, with outbreaks often occurring in rural areas. Key outbreaks were the 2014-2016 West African epidemic, hitting Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The 2020 outbreak occurred in 2020 DR Congo. Symptoms often start in 2-21 days following exposure, such as fever, vomiting, watery diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Present treatments use supportive care, such as IV fluids plus managing complications, together with experimental therapies plus vaccines.
