Essendon defender Jordan Ridley has been signed by Geelong, with the deal completed on 7 October 2026. The trade sends utility Jack Bowes to Essendon along with four draft picks.

Ridley had been heavily linked to the Cats after Essendon placed a strong asking price on the defender. Essendon were unwilling to let him go cheaply throughout the trade period.

The completed swap gives Geelong an reliable defender while Essendon picks up Bowes and additional selections. Bowes is capable across multiple positions who adds depth to the Essendon list heading into the new season.
