Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell is turning heads ahead of the Crimson Tide's Week 6 SEC home game against Georgia. Bryce Young and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart both described Russell a "new-age" quarterback, while former Alabama coach Nick Saban said Russell and Young are "very similar."

CBS Sports put the focus on the quarterback matchup between Russell and Georgia's Gunner Stockton ahead of the game. The comparison between the two signal-callers has generated plenty of discussion among fans and analysts. Saban's comments in particular stood out, given his deep knowledge of both programs.

Smart's use of the "new-age" label matches what Young also said about Russell's approach at the position. The phrase suggests Russell brings something different compared to pocket passers of earlier eras. Rece Davis also spoke highly of him and called the Alabama-Georgia contest a "big" matchup in the SEC schedule, reinforcing how much is at stake for both teams.
